All Elite Wrestling is interested in signing Buddy Murphy, reports Dave Meltzer in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Murphy is currently a free agent after being released from his WWE contract on 2 June. Let go as part of WWE's ongoing budget-trimming efforts (despite the promotion generating record profits in 2020), he will be free to compete and sign for other promotions from 31 August - assuming he is beholden to a 90-day non-compete clause.

It was announced earlier this month that Murphy would face current AEW star Brian Cage for Pennsylvania Premiere Wrestling on 11 September. This was his only confirmed post-WWE booking at the time of writing.

Murphy, whose name is currently blanked out on Twitter (he is being billed as "FKA Buddy Murphy" for the Cage match), hit Twitter to tease his availability earlier this month:-

Per Meltzer, IMPACT Wrestling has also expressed an interest in the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion.

Murphy was with WWE for eight years, having been signed to a developmental deal in March 2013. He broke out as part of a tag team with Wesley Blake, managed by Alexa Bliss, in NXT, and was moved to 205 Live and the Cruiserweight division in early 2018.
