Today (4 January) could have huge ramifications for the global pro-wrestling scene going forward, as not only is NJPW's Wrestle Kingdom 13 currently taking place inside the Tokyo Dome, but a major meeting between three of the world's biggest promotions is set to go down after the event.

Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio yesterday evening, officials from New Japan Pro Wrestling, Ring Of Honor, and the upstart All Elite Wrestling are set for immediate talks.

This comes after days of speculation stemming from AEW's official unveiling on New Year's Day. It is expected that the three companies will discuss the prospect of forging some kind of working relationship.

Early talk suggested that while AEW were keen to work with NJPW, the feeling may not have been mutual. Now, Meltzer believes that all three companies want to collude, but political issues may interfere with that, particularly as AEW could be competing directly with ROH in the United States.

The existing NJPW/ROH relationship is years old, and they'll co-promote the G1 Supercard in Madison Square Garden over WrestleMania weekend, so a continuation of that agreement wouldn't be a huge surprise. Regardless, expect huge, huge shockwaves from whatever happens after Wrestle Kingdom.
