AEW Or WWE? Major Update On Stephanie Vaquer's Future
As she departs CMLL, there's now a major update on Stephanie Vaquer's next move.
Having impressed against Mercedes Moné at Forbidden Door - where she dropped the NJPW Strong Women's Championship to Mercedes - there's now a significant update on the future of Stephanie Vaquer.
With it at one point thought that Vaquer was likely to end up signing with AEW, it now appears that she'll instead be joining WWE.
Opting to remove herself from both the CMLL and NJPW rosters, Vaquer has been stripped of the CMLL Women's Championship and the CMLL Women's Tag Team Championships. Now, Fightful Select reports that, with interest from AEW and WWE, the 31-year-old is WWE-bound. More specifically, she'll be heading to NXT initially, with the Chilean actually in attendance backstage for NXT Heatwave last weekend.
For those wondering, Stephanie Vaquer has been under contract with CMLL, although the promotion usually allows talent out of those deals if they get a big offer from a major US company. A 15-year veteran of the ring, Vaquer made her debut back in 2009 and, in addition to the aforementioned promotions, she's competed for the likes of Stardom, Tokyo Joshi Pro, and RevPro.
