AEW Revolution 2021: 10 Things That Need To Happen Before The PPV
How should All Elite Wrestling proceed following the excellent Full Gear?
AEW has managed to rack up an impressive streak of pay-per-views in 2020, with Double Or Nothing, All Out, Full Gear all largely being successes. It is now time for AEW to start building towards their first big show of the new year...Revolution 2021.
The last Revolution PPV was a stacked card that saw some significant development for the company. They crowned Jon Moxley as AEW World Champion, cementing him as their top babyface. Kenny Omega, Hangman Page and The Young Bucks tore the house down with an all-time classic tag team bout. And MJF managed to defeat Cody in a wonderful payoff to their ongoing rivalry.
Following Full Gear 2020, there is potential for Revolution 2021 to top its previous instalment. AEW seem fully comfortable in their storytelling and there are now so many great wrestlers who can deliver absolutely brilliant matches. But most importantly, there is so much story potential going forward!
The build to Revolution 2020 was great. Even the Jake Hager Vs. Dustin Rhodes match had enough build to make you care about the outcome. That is what AEW does best. They create organic, compelling stories.
Full Gear is a great starting point on the road to Revolution, but there are some things that must still happen along the way in order to make AEW's next PPV another modern great.
10. DON'T Split Up Team Taz
Following Full Gear, it appears AEW are moving towards a Darby Allin Vs Team Taz story. Now this has been brewing since Double Or Nothing when Brian Cage made his debut in the company, but now we are finally going to see the blow off to that feud.
One point of concern, however, lies in the tease of dissension between Team Taz. Following the TNT Championship match, Brian Cage and Ricky Starks played a bit of tug of war with the belt, seemingly hinting at the potential split of the group.
This would be a mistake for AEW because Team Taz are only just getting established. They have a great look and have yet to capture any championship gold in the company (excluding the unrecognised FTW Championship). They work much better as a unit than they do individually. Cage can contend for the top belt while Starks challenges for the TNT Championship, and if that fails, there's always the tag titles.
It seems strange to be teasing the breakup of this act so soon. So hopefully Team Taz continue to function as a well-oiled machine and maybe recruit some new members into the faction.
