AEW Revolution 2022: 10 Things That Must Happen
Chris Jericho does the unthinkable; AEW titles change hands; Revolution = bloodbath.
Welcome to the first post-AEW revolution version of Revolution.
Cody Rhodes is gone, and Tony Khan's company must look to the future. Truthfully, despite Cody's undoubted importance to the cause (both behind the scenes and in terms of on-screen star power), All Elite's roster has way more depth than it did when the first event happened in early-2020.
Key additions like CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, Keith Lee and others make 2021's line up look paper-thin by comparison as well. All four of those guys will play huge roles in this weekend's pay-per-view. Good, they should be making waves in AEW and securing the promotion's future in blockbuster matches.
Revolution 2022 is f*cking stacked. Beyond the four title matches scheduled, AEW will also confirm a new TNT Title contender by way of some spot-heavy ladder chaos and probably book blood aplenty. Both the CM Punk vs. MJF 'Dog Collar' bout and Bryan Danielson's bid to get Jon Moxley on side should be claret overload.
Then, there's the not-so-small matter of one Chris Jericho's immediate plans. Does he coast along singing 'Judas', or does he become one himself?
10. Andrade El Idolo Deletes Matt Hardy
Get Matt Hardy out of those suits and back into some skater pants.
This whole HFO thing has been a bit sh*t, and turning it into the AHFO hasn't done much for Matt, Private Party, his other goons or Andrade El Idolo. At Revolution, the pitch here is that Sammy Guevara, Darby Allin and Sting win the six-man, then El Idolo decides to stage his own mini-takeover.
Post-match, Andrade should definitely attack Hardy and take him out of the picture for at least a few weeks. In the interim, AEW could have the handsome devil lead Private Party and become somewhat of a tyrannical sod. Eventually, that'd lead to Matt's comeback, and he wouldn't come alone.
It's only a matter of time before Jeff Hardy romps onto the AEW scene himself. Nobody wants to see that happen without a Hardy Boyz reunion, so getting Matt out of this crummy HFO business is an important step. Hardyz vs. Private Party would be a nice appetiser for Matt and Jeff vs. The Young Bucks, or something.
