AEW Star Fires Back At WWE Exec Bruce Prichard's "Unfair" Criticism
Bruce Prichard said "no-one really cared" about this AEW's man character.
Dustin Rhodes has tweeted out his reply to recent criticism from WWE's Bruce Prichard.
The AEW star said he "loves" Bruce, but doesn't agree with what Prichard said about his 'Natural' character on a recent episode of his podcast. There, Bruce said that "no-one really cared" about Rhodes when he semi-ditched the Goldust gimmick in 1997 and started appearing as himself.
Dustin took issue with that, said it was "unfair", and called himself "a tremendously talented storyteller". He doesn't think it's fair that Prichard claims then-WWF fans didn't "give a sh*t" about the real human being behind the Goldust persona. This is something Bruce has also said before about guys like Kevin Nash (who played Diesel) and Scott Hall (Razor Ramon).
Fans generally disagree with those sentiments, and point to the pair's successful run in WCW as part of the nWo. In fairness to Prichard, he's always championed the Goldust gimmick for Dustin, and thinks it was the best use of him. At least he's consistent there.
Rhodes is entitled to defend himself though, of course. He also closed the tweet by saying, "Love ya Bruce". That was a nice touch despite the criticism.
