Andrade El Idolo's AEW deal expires "relatively soon", reports Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.

Meltzer stated that AEW could conceivably add time to Andrade's contract due to the periods he has spent out of action with various injuries. Nonetheless, his expiry date is "relatively soon" as things stand.

Interestingly, Meltzer believes that Andrade has yet to decide on his long-term future. The former WWE man hadn't signed a new AEW deal at the time of reporting.

Andrade is believed to be returning to his old home promotion, CMLL, following a mystery vignette aired at the lucha libra group's Arena Mexico show on 1 December. Meltzer reports that Andrade wants to go back to CMLL as that's where he started out, though returning to WWE wouldn't allow him the freedom to do so. He knows that he can't work Arena Mexico if he leaves AEW for WWE, hence his decision to work for CMLL again.

El Idolo debuted with AEW on the 4 June 2021 episode of Dynamite. AEW-wise, he has worked exclusively on Collision since returning from injury in June, never crossing over to Dynamite.
