AEW Titles To Be Unified IMMINENTLY, Tony Khan Confirms
AEW to unify THESE titles ASAP...
The AEW and ROH Trios Champions will be unified at this Sunday's Dynasty pay-per-view, company founder and CEO Tony Khan has confirmed.
AEW title-holders The Acclaimed meet their ROH counterparts Bullet Club Gold at the event. Speaking during the pre-Dynasty media call, Khan stated that the winners will be crowned Undisputed World Trios Champions, which he believes will create new opportunities for AEW/ROH trios in general.
Said Khan (h/t Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online):
"The winner of the match will be the Undisputed World Trios Champions. I think that's very cool and it'll create a lot of great opportunities for the top trios out there. I think it's very exciting, you know, some consolidation and unification of championships."
The bout - pitting Max Caster, Anthony Bowens, and Billy Gunn against Jay White, Austin Gunn, and Colten Gunn - wasn't booked until Wednesday's episode of Dynamite. Khan stated that an injury had held AEW back from announcing the match until clearance was sought:
"We had an injury this past week and I'd been waiting to confirm this match on the card. When we got the clearance from the doctors I was really excited to be able to add this match to the card."
AEW Dynasty takes place in St. Louis, MO this Sunday, April 21st.
