AEW To Miss Out On Mercedes Moné? HUGE Doubts Over Debut!
Latest on Mercedes Moné and AEW after bombastic NJPW debut.
Evidence is mounting that Mercedes Moné is not about to become #AllElite despite months of rumours linking her with AEW.
Dave Meltzer reports on Wrestling Observer Radio that Mercedes is "not coming to AEW", as she doesn't want to make what would have to be a long-term commitment to the promotion. He backed this up by claiming to have heard that the former Sasha Banks isn't AEW-bound from participants in the 11 January tag match pitting Saraya and Toni Storm against Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter.
Moné had been rumoured as Saraya's mystery partner for that show, though Saraya announced Storm would be her partner during last night's Dynamite. This was despite a pre-show report stating outright that Mercedes would team with Saraya on 11 January.
Meltzer claimed that people within WWE are of the belief that Moné will not wrestle for AEW. They feel that after getting her NJPW run "out of her system", she will head back to WWE. Such a thing would be impossible if she went to AEW, at least in the short-term, as Tony Khan's promotion typically signs wrestlers to contracts spanning a minimum of three years.
Moné debuted for NJPW at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on Tuesday. Her first match for the promotion comes against IWGP Women's Champion KAIRI on 18 February.
