AEW aren’t just about selling T-shirts. They’re also about to start selling wrestling figures, just like Vince McMahon’s distinguished competition.

The hint of the company’s next move has come courtesy of MJF’s Twitter account. He posted a shot of a laptop showing a scanned image of his face, suggesting that rumours of an AEW video game might be accurate. But look a little closer and the real story is something else.

Next to the computer is a lanyard with Gentle Giant Ltd’s logo emblazoned on the strap. For anyone who isn’t a massive toy collecting dork like me, the company are an action figure and collectible toy maker who specialise in licensed toys (like Star Wars).

So it’s not a video game but we are getting AEW action figures by the look of it. Which has long been a key marketing strategy for WWE monetising younger audience members. So it’s a smart move.

One of their biggest selling points as a company is their ability to capture likenesses - which the facial scanning technology already suggests - which should mean that any potential AEW lines aren’t the comedy monstrosities we occasionally see with WWE’s logo splashed all over them.

Will you be rushing out to start collecting the figures if this proves to be a company wide measure?
