AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door 2 Heading To Japan?
NJPW President Takami Ohbari on transpacific plans for Forbidden Door 2.
New Japan Pro Wrestling President Takami Ohbari wants Forbidden Door 2 to take place in Japan.
Ohbari's comments come in the fake of his promotion's first collaborative event with All Elite Wrestling, which took place in Chicago, Illinois this past Sunday (26 June). Though hampered by an injury-ravaged build, the event turned out to be a considerable critical success, with interpromotional matches like Jon Moxley vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi and Orange Cassidy vs. Will Ospreay drawing considerable acclaim.
But after holding the first Forbidden Door in the United States, Ohbari wishes for the second to cross the Pacific.
Said the NJPW President of a second event to Tokyo Sports:-
"In my personal opinion, there are some wrestlers who couldn't come (to the US) just before. There are still wrestlers I want to see and cards I want to see. I want to do it."
Continuing, Ohbari stated that New Japan's ongoing 50th anniversary year presents a great chance to bring such a pay-per-view to the puroresu market leaders' home nation:-
"I think there is a need to see it in Japan. If you want to realize it, the 50th anniversary year is a good opportunity. There are AEW wrestlers who want to work in front of Japanese fans. I think."
Prior to the first Forbidden Door, Khan told Comic Book of his desire to see it become an annual affair. Neither AEW nor NJPW has confirmed anything to that effect yet.
