AEW's Britt Baker Shoots HARD On Star Wars "Freaks"

Britt Baker has no time for Tony Schiavone's Star Wars "illness," apparently...

Clearly angling for a big Double Or Nothing 2021 bout with Rey Skywalker, All Elite Wrestling's Britt Baker used a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio to trash Star Wars and its fandom.

Here's what Baker had to say when asked what she gets up to in her free time (h/t Fightful for the transcriptions):-

"Well, I don't sit around watching all 30 episodes of Star Wars, that's for sure. I'm so sick of it. My good buddy, Tony Schiavone and I, we don't agree with this, we don't get along about this, but I just can't for the life of me figure out how people can get into it. I literally tried and I fell asleep within 5 minutes. I can't get into it."

Britt went deeper into her criticism when host Dave LaGreca called out the fandom for its excessive defensiveness:-

"This Star Wars stuff is an illness. I don't get it. I want to understand it because I want to help these people. I'm a physician. I want to know what I can do to help these people, but I can't figure it out. We gotta have more extensive research done about what's going on in the minds of these Star Wars freaks, really."

It should be clear from reading these sentences that Baker is working here, at least to an extent. If not, her claim that she "almost smacked [Tony Schiavone] across the face" for claiming that Star Wars "perfectly explains the human soul" should clear up any doubt.

Regardless, Britt knows what she's doing here. Attacking a fandom as loyal and passionate as Star Wars will rile people up, provided her quotations take off.

Let's hope she was joking about smacking poor old Tony, too...
