AEW's Brodie Lee Enjoyed That His Vince McMahon Parodies Angered WWE
The Exalted One got a kick out of WWE's rage, it seems.
AEW's Brodie Lee has conducted a new interview with the Wrestling Inc. Daily Podcast, during which he touched on the Vince McMahon jabs he seemingly took early into his run as 'The Exalted One' - and WWE's reportedly angry response.
When asked what he thought of his former employers' reaction, Lee said "I have no problems with that whatsoever. I rather enjoy that, and the thought of little old me affecting someone there, that's okay with me."
The Dark Order leader explained that his character was never intended to be a full-on Vince parody, though he deliberately included "a couple of little Easter eggs and things that people could very easily pick up on" in his early promos. "There was definitely a couple of jabs his way in the early going," he added.
"Once I realised that that was everything that people were going to talk about, I wanted to get away from it as quickly as possible. I wanted it to be more about me, more about my identity. I don't want to be seen as that bitter ex-employee."
Lee has since dropped the jabs, becoming his own man as The Dark Order's chief - and AEW's TNT Championship. He defends the strap against Dustin Rhodes on this week's Dynamite.
