There was bad news in the All Elite Wrestling women's division this weekend, as it was confirmed that Kris Statlander was seriously injured while competing at least week's Dynamite tapings.

Knee injuries of this severity typically come with a 6-9 month recovery time. While Statlander's specific recovery window hasn't been clarified yet, she is all but certain to miss an extended period.

The news leaves the already-thin AEW women's division looking threadbare, particularly as Statlander has been a television fixture throughout the Empty Arena Era. Britt Baker is also sidelined at the minute but expected to return for All Out in September, while Japanese wrestlers like Riho and Yuka Sakazaki are currently unable to travel due to global restrictions, leaving only Penelope Ford, Nyla Rose, and champion Hikaru Shida to book amongst ranked wrestlers.

Perhaps the Statlander and Baker injuries will allow somebody like Big Swole, who has struggled to break through the midcard, to make more of an impact in the promotion, though the situation leaves AEW with a big headache in the interim. Here's hoping Statlander is able to mount a speedy recovery.
