AEW's TNT Announce Team Named
It's a familiar lineup for fans of early '90s WCW...
AEW seem to have an overabundance of announcers on their hands currently, especially after recently confirming the arrival of MLW's Tony Schiavone, raising the question of precisely who will man the booth come the company's big TV debut in October.
Well, we received our answer at Starrcast's Turner Memories panel. When the nascent promotion's as-yet unnamed programme launches on TNT, it'll be introduced by the voices of Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, and Excalibur.
Both Ross and Excalibur called AEW's debut Double or Nothing show this past May. Former PWG star Excalibur was part of the broadcast team covering last September's All In, the spiritual precursor to this weekend's All Out.
Long-term WCW anchor Tony Schiavone had been working with MLW until AEW confirmed his signing with the company last week. It was not widely expected that he'd take a permanent role around the announce table, but evidently the company have had a change of heart.
For fans of early '90s WCW, the reunion of Ross and Schiavone under the headsets is bound to cause some considerable excitement. The pair's broadcasting careers overlapped between 1990 and 1993, before Ross signed with WWE for the first time.
