Alberto Del Rio could feature for AAA this weekend on their TripleMania show, according to a tweet by AAA announcer Arturo Rivera. Wrestling Observer Radio backs this story up, commenting that Del Rio will apparently be at the TripleMania show. However, what isn't known is if Del Rio will be working the show or merely attending backstage. If Del Rio does appear on the event, he will be going into direct competition with WWE who air SummerSlam on the same night. That'll be bad news for WWE's business in Mexico, where the Del Rio / AAA development has already garnered mainstream coverage. The issue of a possible 90 day no-compete clause remains a factor here. AAA in the past have respected WWE's contractual agreements. They brought Sin Cara in for example, but never used him on television until his WWE compete clause expired. You've got to think that if Del Rio is under a WWE clause, he'll simply be visiting backstage this weekend. His presence alone has already inspired some interest for the show. The AAA development is also significant for TNA. It tells us that the troubled promotion either didn't try to get Del Rio or couldn't afford him. Chances are that no Del Rio bid was ever made, because TNA are now resigned to losing their TV standing in just six weeks time. There are no further American dates booked by TNA after September, although they do have a long standing tour booked in the UK for January 2015.
