Alberto Del Rio had a dispute with senior WWE management recently and he threatened to quit the company, according to F4WOnline.com. Their sources in the WWE claim that Del Rio has become so frustrated with his role in the company and his current contract that he has been contemplating quitting. It is said that after speaking his mind to WWE officials a couple of weeks ago, he threatened to walk out on American wrestling. It has been well documented that WWE were unhappy with how Alberto Del Rio's two reigns as WWE Champion went last year. Vince McMahon hand picked Del Rio to become the big star of 2011, having him win the Royal Rumble in January and become a main event player who eventually won the gold in the summer but McMahon's criticisms of Del Rio's performances, particularly in his lack of aggression and playing it safe to avoid injury in the big gimmick matches, along with his inability to move ratings with the belt, led Vince to change his mind over pushing him and put the title on CM Punk. Del Rio has been an upper mid card guy for six months now and didn't even have a match on the WrestleMania 28 card. He was set to get something of a renewed push in a feud with Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Title but his scheduled place in the title match at WWE No Way Out on Sunday was taken from him. One WWE source believes Del Rio may have been stripped from the match because of his recent outburst and because McMahon is starting to lose faith in him. The reports that Del Rio had suffered a concussion and was too injured to work may well have been exaggerated and it is interesting to note that he wrestled the very night next against Santino Marella and showed no signs of any health problems. Some critics of Del Rio have noted that his passion for the business may be disappearing. He is a wealthy man with no income concerns and would easily find high-paying work as a Mexican hero because of his credentials as a former WWE Champion and as the son of luchador Don Caras. F4WOnline.com however does suggest that another WWE source has played down Del Rio's quit talks as being nothing but a small spat, however another believes it was somewhere in the middle of serious and not.
