That women aren't permitted to wrestle on WWE's Saudi Arabian cards remains one of the key reasons why the promotion's 10-year deal with the country remains so controversial, but there's now the slightest chance this barrier could finally be smashed down at this Friday's Super ShowDown event.

According to Ryan Satin's sources, WWE have been working on booking a women's match on this show for months, with company officials going back and forth with the Saudi General Sports Authority. They haven't yet been given the okay to go ahead with the bout, but Bliss and Natalya have been brought along in the hope that they'll be able to perform.

This news offers a faint glimmer of hope. While it still looks unlikely that a women's match will go ahead at Super ShowDown (which is tomorrow), that Nattie and Alexa are on the trip suggests progress has been made. Regardless, none of it will mean a thing until two women finally lace up their boots in Saudi Arabia.
