Scorpio Sky aggravated an existing knee injury on last week's AEW Rampage, straining a muscle during the opening stages of his TNT Championship defence against Dante Martin.

The 39-year-old revealed as much via Twitter the following day. While there is currently no word on whether or not he will be forced to miss television time, Sky stated that his right leg was effectively useless following the strain. He hopes to be back in the ring before long, however:-

I went into last nights match with my knee bothering me and unfortunately in the opening minutes I strained a muscle that goes from my knee up through my groin. My right leg was useless from then on. 1/2
Despite that, wrestling in SoCal felt amazing even on one leg. Hopefully nothing serious and I’ll be back to defend again soon. 2/2.

Sky's victory over Martin was the second of his sophomore reign as TNT Champion, following an 11 May victory over former SoCal Uncensored partner Frankie Kazarian. The veteran is currently 40 days into a run that commenced with a win over Sammy Guevara on the 27 April Dynamite.

Rampage was a cursed night for AEW's men's singles champions, with World Title holder CM Punk announcing he would be taking time off to undergo surgery, though he'd remain as champion.

AEW and NJPW have since announced plans for an Interim World Championship Eliminator Series to crown somebody to keep the top spot warm in Punk's absence.
