Following on from the recent revelation that Adam Cole has agreed to work for WWE through SummerSlam 2021 weekend (21 & 22 August) after his previous contract's expiration in July, Fightful Select reports that Pete Dunne's deal is also set to expire soon.

One of the outlet's sources stated that Dunne's contract is up after SummerSlam weekend as well. This hasn't yet been confirmed with WWE or Dunne himself, though.

The situation is described as being similar to Cole's, though there's no word on if Pete's contract expired in July, leading to a short-term agreement.

Dunne, 27, has been with WWE since 2017, when he debuted as part of the United Kingdom Championship Tournament that January. He has since become an important figure on both NXT and NXT UK, holding the United Kingdom Championship for 685 days between May 2017 and April 2019, as well as capturing the NXT Tag Team Titles with Matt Riddle last February.

The Englishman's last high-profile match was a Fatal Five Way for the NXT Championship at TakeOver: In Your House in June, where he was unsuccessful in a bout won by Karrion Kross. He is currently part of a heel faction with Oney Lorcan and Ridge Holland on NXT television.
