"One curb stomp and you'd all cease to exist..."

WWE superstars have a long history of "borrowing" from films and comic books for their gimmicks - or at least their ring gear - and storylines (and a rather more unfortunate history of movie stars appearing to shill their work within the product occasionally) and we can now add Seth Rollins to that list.

Having previously taken wardrobe tips from the White Power Ranger and stealing his nickname from Game Of Thrones, Rollins catered to the WWE universe's MCU fanbase with a SummerSlam outfit clearly designed in homage to Thanos, the Mad Titan villain of Avengers: Infinity War.

The indigo and gold shoulder-pad gear was very reminiscent of the lightweight armour Josh Brolin's memorable villain wore throughout the Russos' stunning ensemble movie. His boots were also seemingly modelled on the Infinity Gauntlet, including their own Infinity Stones - presumably suggesting that his infamous curb stomp would be bringing balance to the universe in place of Thanos' snap.

This wasn't the only example of comic book homaging this weekend in WWE either, as Johnny Gargano took to the NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn main event in gear inspired by Venom. And some might suggest that the return of Finn Balor's Demon doubled-down on the symbiote references.

This all begs the question, really: when will Becky Lynch unveil her world-ending Squirrel Girl ring-gear?
