The former A-Kid brought his new WWE gimmick, Axiom, to life on last night's NXT 2.0, defeating Dante Chen in a high-flying introduction that concluded with a superkick following a high cross.

Designed to put a spotlight on Axiom as a character and wrestler, it was a relatively straightforward bout - though the Spaniard's flashy new ring entrance was anything but. As well as utilising deep blue lighting, the entrance (clipped here by Reddit user u/itsmekelsey_5) featured augmented reality effects to give the impression of Axiom "drifting" across the screen, briefly leaving trails of himself behind.

WWE had built to Axiom's first match through a series of vignettes portraying the masked man as a comic book enthusiast and a skilled mathematician. One saw Axiom claim that he had trained his mind to solve problems when his body had let him down, applying those equations to wrestling.

The man behind the new mask had not wrestled for WWE since 21 April prior to last night. March saw him debut on NXT's US-based brand, embarking on a two-week run opposite Kushida, Grayson Waller, Roderick Strong, and Cameron Grimes.

Axiom, 25, has been signed to WWE since October 2019.
