Daniel Bryan made his return to Raw on Monday night. He was out for about a month due to another injury. WWE sent him home from last month's European tour a few days early. The optimistic feeling was that Bryan would be out for a few weeks and there was a rumor that he would announce his return to action on Raw leading to a match at Payback. Instead, Bryan said he had to relinquish the Intercontinental Title and that he didn't know when he would be back. Bryan did a really good job of thanking the fans for the support and the crowd was on fire chanting "YES" for the Intercontinental Champion. He got to the heart of the matter by mentioning that he had a MRI done recently and he was told he may be out for weeks or months. He even said that he may never be able to wrestle again at all. It's too early to go that far, but the fact that he would say it on WWE TV definitely was shocking for the viewers at home. It's been a rough year for Bryan in terms of his health. He noted that it was almost a year since Stephanie McMahon stripped him of the WWE Title last year and he added that it was the right decision because he was unable to compete. After about eight months on the shelf, Bryan found a doctor that did an operation for him and he was cleared to compete in January. He went back to a full time schedule with matches regularly on Raw and Smackdown as well as live events. Looking back, they probably should have eased him into it some more. What's next for him? More rehab and tests. As PWInsider noted, the MRI on his shoulder let WWE know he couldn't compete right now. He might need a more major surgery involving his neck or shoulder although that's merely being speculative at this point. Bryan's story is a sad one. He worked for about a decade to get to WWE, then he accomplished everything he wanted by becoming WWE Champion and it was taken away from him due to this neck and shoulder injury. Bryan wasn't injured much at all in his career before this. It's just bad luck.We wish Daniel Bryan all the best in his recovery. Hopefully he will be back in action soon. We know that he'll be a part of the Tough Enough panel starting at the end of June, so at least he has that coming up soon. If he can't come back at all that's not something we want to think about right now. We will have more Daniel Bryan updates down the road.
