Charlotte Flair was a strongly pushed commodity on WWE Raw and NXT this year, with 'The Queen' embarking on a sojourn to the black and gold brand after winning the 2020 Royal Rumble, building to her match with NXT Women's Champion Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 36.

Per a new report from Fightful Select, Flair's dual-positioning caused considerable creative friction within the promotion.

It is stated that on several occasions, the Raw creative team would shoot down ideas that the NXT writers had for Flair, as the black and gold crew had to get plans approved by their red counterparts before running with them. One of these ideas included Ripley, not Flair, going over at 'Mania, with Bianca Belair added to the feud, making it a Triple Threat what would have allowed 'The Queen' to "lose" without directly taking the fall.

One NXT source was pessimistic of the situation, saying that the NXT team should have understood what, exactly, they were getting into when putting these plans together.

Flair is currently off WWE television, having taken what was reported to be an "extended" break to undergo an undisclosed surgical procedure. She is expected back sometime around Royal Rumble 2021 season.
