Backstage News On TNA vs Global Force Wrestling Invasion Angle
Jeff Jarrett's old company and new company will be working together.
Wrestling Observer Radio that the story will see Jarrett gain the trust of TNA President Dixie Carter and then turn heel on her. TNA has already taped their TV shows through the month of July and into early August with no involvement from GFW, but it's possible they might edit in some backstage segments to start the angle. Meanwhile, Carter returned in a TV role as a babyface role during those tapings as well. GFW was seen as the last option for TNA to do an invasion angle with, according to Dave Meltzer. Apparently, TNA asked Ring of Honor about it, but they turned them down. There's no longer a working relationship with Wrestle-1 out of Japan and the Mexican AAA promotion works with Lucha Underground, so that wasn't an option either. A big former TNA name that is working for GFW is Magnus, who is appearing at GFW live events next weekend as well as their first ever TV taping on July 24. His TNA deal is over so he's no longer a full time employee for them, but he may be a part of future angles with the company. Jarrett won TNA's new King of the Mountain Championship at Sunday's TNA Slammiversary event. That will be a reason to keep him on TNA shows and he's also TNA's next Hall of Famer, so the plans are in place for the invasion to begin.
