Backstage Notes On WWE Bringing Wrestlers Back For WrestleMania 37 Opening Segment
WWE brought dozens of wrestlers out for WrestleMania 37's opening, including some returnees.
WrestleMania 37's first night opened with a segment that saw Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, and Roman Reigns stand before a huge chunk of the WWE roster, with dozens of wrestlers gathered in their ring gear as Vince addressed the Tampa crowd before Bebe Rexha sung America the Beautiful.
It was a curious way to open the show, given that everyone bar the McMahons, Triple H, and Reigns were in gear. There were also a number of returnees in the crowd, including Ivar, who hasn't wrestled in eight months, and former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal.
Per a new report from Fightful Select, wrestlers were specifically informed that they needed to come out in their gear for this segment. Several of them were confused about it and there were a number of exclusions.
Some members of the WWE roster weren't in Tampa for WrestleMania 37 weekend. Obviously, these people could not appear in the segment.
WrestleMania 37's first night was hit by a significant weather delay, forcing WWE to improvise, calling on its roster to cut unscripted backstage promos to hype up the event. Vince and co. eventually hit the stage around 40 minutes later than planned.
