Backstage Update On CJ Perry's AEW Status
Latest on AEW All Out debutant CJ Perry and her long-term status.
CJ Perry's AEW role is not a "long-term guaranteed thing," says company founder and CEO Tony Khan.
Khan stated as much during his post-All Out media scrum on Sunday evening. He said that while it was great having the former Lana in AEW, he was happy with her surprise appearance, which came following Perry's husband Miro had defeated Powerhouse Hobbs on the pay-per-view.
Said Khan:
"I think it’s great to have CJ here. It’s not a long-term guaranteed thing or anything, but at least for tonight, it was great to have her appearing with us. And I thought it was a great surprise, it was a great show. Miro and Hobbs was a match I really believed would be great for All Out, and it's important to have great matches on both shows [All In and All Out]."
Without being mentioned by name, Perry has been a regular subject in Miro's promos as his 'Redeemer' character. All Out saw her strike Hobbs with a chair after the former Team Taz member had attacked Miro following their match. Staying consistent with his recent interviews, Miro then spurned his wife, heading to the backstage area.
Perry has not wrestled since June 2021, when she was released by WWE.
