WWE might be keen in bringing AEW's FTR back to the promotion they left in 2020, but they won't be able to do anything about it for over a year.

Fightful Select reported on Tuesday that the market leaders had expressed an internal interest in re-signing the tag team formerly known as The Revival once their All Elite Wrestling contracts had expired. Per the original writeup, this would be sometime during summer, though AEW retained a one-year extension option.

It was originally reported that news on said extension clause being activated (or another contract extension) was expected soon. In an update, Fightful noted that the outlet had been informed by AEW that FTR had over a year left on their contracts, tying them to the promotion for the foreseeable future.

Whether or not that year comes from the extension being exercised is currently unclear.

Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood have been with AEW since May 2020. Currently riding high as the ROH and AAA World Tag Team Champions, recent weeks have seen the duo set their sights on expanding their belt collection, with AEW champions Jurassic Express seemingly in their crosshairs.
