Backstage Update On Injury To WWE NXT's Roderick Strong
Further news on the Diamond Mine man's ankle injury.
For those fearing that Roderick Strong may be set for a spell on the sidelines, the ankle injury recently announced on NXT 2.0 for the Diamond Mine man is all merely for storyline purposes.
As per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Roddy is fine and the purported injury is instead simply part of the ongoing issues between Strong and his Diamond Mine cohorts, the Creed Brothers.
For those who missed it, it was claimed that Strong suffered an ankle injury ahead of him and Damon Kemp getting set to face NXT Tag Team Champions Pretty Deadly on this past Tuesday's episode of 2.0. As a result of said injury, that match ultimately didn't take place.
Things seem to be coming to a head for Diamond Mine right now, with the Creeds seemingly on the cusp of a full babyface turn - if they're not already classed as babyfaces, that is - as they take umbrage with Strong's underhand heel tactics. Brutus and Julius are due to challenge for Pretty Deadly's prize at NXT TakeOver: In Your House next weekend, and it could well be that In Your House sees the implosion of Diamond Mine.
In terms of Diamond Mine as a whole, the group has already lost three members across its 11-month lifespan, with Tyler Rust, Hideki Suzuki and Malcom Bivens all no longer with WWE. As it stands, the faction is currently made up of Strong, the Creeds, Ivy Nile and recent recruit Damon Kemp.
