Backstage Update On Kenny Omega's AEW Status
Latest details on Kenny Omega's continued absence from AEW television.
We are now more than six months into Kenny Omega's absence from All Elite Wrestling and there's still no word on when, exactly, the former World Champion will be good to go again.
PWInsider's Mike Johnson reports that Omega doesn't yet have a timetable for his long-awaited comeback. Kenny has, however, been backstage at multiple AEW television tapings over the past few weeks, putting in work producing matches in the women's division.
Omega has been hands-on with the division since AEW's 2019 inception, acting as a guiding hand. It appears this is still the case today.
Full Gear 2021 hosted Omega's last professional wrestling match. It emerged in the aftermath that the 38-year-old was suffering from myriad health issues, including blown-out knees, a sports hernia, and vertigo, necessitating an extended period on the sidelines. Although February was initially pinpointed as a realistic target date for his return, this proved to be fanciful.
Omega will surely be hopeful of getting cleared prior to the AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view on 26 June, having played a fundamental role in building that working relationship in the first place.
