Backstage Update On The Elite's AEW Full Gear 2022 Returns
Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks finally return to AEW at Full Gear 2022.
The Elite's two-plus-month AEW absence will end at Full Gear 2022 this Saturday (19 November), as announced on last night's Dynamite.
Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks will challenge Death Triangle for the Trios World Championships they were stripped of following All Out 2022. This was confirmed during the show, with Death Triangle's PAC throwing down the gauntlet after he and The Lucha Brothers had successfully defended the gold against Top Flight and AR Fox.
PAC's promo referenced recent vignettes teasing The Elite's comeback. While Death Triangle were in the ring, a Full Gear match graphic appeared on the big screen, with Kenny and the Bucks slowly fading in opposite the champions. The match is set.
Fightful Select reports that since AEW started airing The Elite's vignettes a few weeks ago, the plan was always for the group to return at Full Gear. And although they didn't appear on camera, The Young Bucks were backstage in Bridgeport, Connecticut last night.
The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer had previously reported on talk of The Elite and Death Triangle wrestling at Full Gear.
Kenny and the Jackson brothers had been suspended since 4 September, when they brawled with CM Punk and Ace Steel following an incendiary All Out post-show media scrum. Steel has since been released by AEW. The injured Punk, meanwhile, is reportedly in contract buyout negotiations.
