Will Ospreay's references to WWE and Paul 'Triple H' Levesque on this week's episode of AEW Dynamite did not come against Ospreay's own will.

The promo, which was effectively a response to Levesque's thinly veiled claims that Ospreay wasn't "in it for the grind" after the Englishman decided to sign with AEW over WWE, saw Will state:

"Normally I wouldn't rise to this type of bait, right? But seeing how the guy who said it is only in the position because he was grinding the boss' daughter, you have no business telling me what the grind is all about, my friend, because you have no idea what I fight for."

Fightful Select reports that Ospreay was not fed these lines. The 'Aerial Assassin' was "fine" with the promo's content, having worked on it with AEW's creative team.

A shot at CM Punk had been considered for the promo after Punk took a shot at Ospreay for getting August's All In London attendance tattooed on his arm. This was considered "overkill", however, and dismissed.

PWTorch's Wade Keller had previously reported that both Ospreay and Tony Khan interpreted Levesque's comments on not wanting to hire younger wrestlers who preferred a lighter schedule as a shot at Will.
