Backstage Update On WWE's Plans For Emma
Emma's five-year WWE absence ended on SmackDown. Here's the latest...
Last week's episode of SmackDown wasn't a one-off.
Emma has officially re-signed with WWE and will compete on the SmackDown roster going forward, reports the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer. This follows the blue brand's 28 October, on which Emma was a mystery opponent for SmackDown Women's Champion Ronda Rousey, ending her five-year absence from the promotion in a seven-minute losing effort.
The Australian had been out of WWE since October 2017, when she was released from her contract. Competing under her real name, Tenille Dashwood, she was active in such companies as Ring Of Honor and IMPACT Wrestling while away from the market leaders.
PWInsider reported on Friday that Dashwood was backstage in St. Louis, Missouri ahead of SmackDown, identifying her as Rousey's likeliest open challenge opponent. This then played out on television hours later.
Emma thanked WWE fans for their support after the bout, saying her 2017 release felt like a dream coming to an end:-
