Dave Meltzer has come through with new details on WWE's disruptive RETRIBUTION stable during an appearance on the Sunday Night's Main Event podcast.

Per the Wrestling Observer man, the performers who took part in last week's SmackDown invasion aren't necessarily those who'll comprise the stable once the masks are pulled off and the identities revealed. A source within the company has stated this explicitly, meaning that WWE used fill-in performers to work the angle, which aped the old Nexus debut in that the group trashed ringside (with a chainsaw) and beat up everyone they could lay hands on.

WWE is keeping the true identity of RETRIBUTION's members a closely-guarded secret. There's currently no telling how long they'll go before unmasking.

A key SmackDown moment saw WWE go to great lengths to stress that the RETRIBUTION member beating up the female audience member was a woman. This was done to avoid an intergender attack, with NXT's Vanessa Borne (who has been speculated for a main roster call-up for a while) rumoured to be under the mask.

NXT wrestlers Tommaso Ciampa and Dominik Dijakovic have both been linked to the stable, having both blacked their social media accounts out over the past week.
