Having made her WWE return on the most recent episode of SmackDown, there’s now an update on Zelina Vega’s status with Vince McMahon’s sports entertainment behemoth.

As per PWInsider, many behind the scenes in WWE didn’t agree with Vega being released by the company back in November. This report claims that those people pushed hard for WWE to iron out the initial issues with Vega, that they apologised to her for how messy her WWE exit was, and that a substantial contract offer was made for her to return to the promotion.

Those “issues”, of course, related to the real-life Thea Trinidad’s use of third-party platforms – such as Twitch – when WWE had put a ban in place on talent using said platforms. Reports at the time of her release stated how Vega requested to speak to Vince McMahon directly about this, but was instead released from the company.

A WWE return for the hugely talented Zelina has been touted for several months now, with purported sightings of her at the WWE Performance Center during that time. The current belief is that the former TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champion re-signed with WWE back in May, and that it was simply a case of waiting for the right time to bring her back into the fold.

As seen on SmackDown, that return saw Vega added to the women’s Money in the Bank match at next weekend’s PPV, before quickly losing in singles action to Liv Morgan.
