Damien Sandow's release from WWE last Friday, a day in which several WWE performers were let-go, was a shock to many. Though Sandow has been used in several roles over the years, he never received the kind of push that many felt his talent warranted.

According to a report from PWInsider, Sandow was released simply because WWE felt it was time to shake up the roster. Sandow did not say anything wrong, he didn't make any major enemies, and it wasn't because WWE felt he was not without value. They simply felt that it was time to part-ways and that the relationship had reached a stand-still.

Sandow was generally looked at as one of the more entertaining wrestlers on the WWE roster, despite being booked into some situations that were less than generous. His "genius" character was always good for a laugh, and his "stunt double" storyline with The Miz was an absolute riot. Sandow was great on the microphone and underrated in the ring, but he was never able to break through to the next level in WWE.

Sandow is already taking bookings on the independent circuit, and he's been confirmed for shows in New York, New Jersey, Indiana, and Oklahoma. The Oklahoma appearance is a show he is doing with Jim Ross.
