Thursday, news broke that former NXT Women's Champion Bayley suffered a leg injury at the brand's latest session of television tapings.

Now, multiple sources are reporting that Bayley's injury was part of a storyline, and that the NXT star isn't hurt in any way.

Bayley was wrestling Nia Jax at Full Sail University when Jax attempted a suplex. Bayley slid out behind Jax, but when she landed on her feet, her knee seemed to go out. She finished the bout, which saw Jax win cleanly after a legdrop. After the match, trainers checked on Bayley and then helped her to the back.

According to reports, the clue that the injury was a work was the fact that the trainer who checked on Bayley was not a medical professional - he was actually contracted developmental talent Christopher Atkins. Had Bayley been legitimately hurt (or had there been fear that she was), the company would have undoubtedly used trained doctors to attend to her.

There is no word yet on how long (or if) WWE will keep Bayley out of action to sell the "injury."
