There's a lot of talk about Bayley's immediate future following her loss to Lyra Valkyria in that (accidentally bloody) grudge match the pair worked on WWE's Saturday Night's Main Event special at Madison Square Garden over the weekend.

Now, Wrestling Observer chief Dave Meltzer has chimed in to give his knowledge of the situation via Wrestling Observer Radio. Amongst other things, Meltzer said: “I know her contract’s due in a couple of months, she’s best friends with Mercedes [Mone], and Mercedes is probably having a ball right now".

On the subject of what's best for Bayley, Dave added this: "In WWE, she probably has the better opponents, but she’s not going to have the featured time. She’s been there for her whole life practically, it seems. A change of scenery could do her really well, but if she’s brought in and [AEW] don’t decide to use her then it’s kinda like...whatever".

The rumour mill has been rumbling with Bayley > AEW chat for a while now. Her WWE career arguably peaked way back at WrestleMania 40 when she toppled old Damage CTRL stablemate IYO SKY to become Women's Champion. Since then, it's been a rocky road for Bayley on Raw, but she should be proud of that bout vs. Valkyria in New York.

So, there are just "a couple of months" to go on the stalwart's existing WWE deal. Beyond that, who knows? There's obviously time left to sit down with Triple H and thrash out a new contract. If not, then Tony Khan would surely welcome Bayley into the fold over on Dynamite and Collision.

Meltzer seems to think that's likely, but reckons Bayley should think carefully about what's best for her long-term.
