Bellator MMA President Scott Coker has hyped up the prospect of signing Brock Lesnar. "We've had a conversation internally and it's worth a conversation, but that's something we'll pursue maybe later into January," Coker told Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour. It is thought that UFC President Dana White is lining up a MMA return for Lesnar, whose WWE contract expires in April 2015. The UFC are in need of major headliners, following a dismal year at the PPV box office in 2014. WWE meanwhile appear unlikely to renew Lesnar's expensive deal, amid cost cutting measures related to the WWE Network. Bellator would be an interesting option for Brock. The group rely mainly on former MMA stars, whereas the UFC is all about the top fighters of the moment. As such, Bellator could be a more natural fit for The Beast. The question is, can Bellator afford Brock? The UFC are a much richer institution, but Bellator could gamble on the fact that Lesnar will bring new eyes to their product. "I would say, look, any fighter that's out there or any star athlete - not star athlete in the sense of a baseball player, but like a Brock Lesnar - that really wants to fight, we're going to have a conversation with them. Because if they can move the needle, we're going to want them on Spike TV." Coker stated. "I think that he's a big needle mover," he added "There have been several years that have passed and I think that he still has the WWE limelight. So, I think that he still has a lot of star power, but to come back and say, 'Hey, I want to train, I want to commit, I want fight', that's going to be a big commitment on his part. We haven't had a conversation yet, but we'd like to at some point." It sounds like at least some sort of offer will be made on Coker's behalf to Lesnar. Presumably the UFC already have their contract offer put together, so it will be interesting to see how this situation develops. There's absolutely no sign of WWE beginning contract renewal talks, so with five months to go you'd have to expect that the current WWE Champion is leaving pro wrestling. It is thought that Lesnar's last date will be WrestleMania 31 on March 29, where it is expected he'll lose the WWE Championship to Roman Reigns. The favourite for Brock's signature has to be the UFC, with Dana White likely to sway Brock's decision making.
