Beth Phoenix Rumored For WWE Hall Of Fame 2017 Induction
"The Glamazon" joins the HOF in Orlando?
PWInsider is reporting that Beth Phoenix, who competed for WWE from 2004 to 2012, will be inducted into the company's Hall of Fame during WrestleMania weekend in Orlando.
The former champion is expected to be the only woman inducted this year.
Phoenix was first signed to the company in 2004 and spent two years in OVW, during which time she captured the developmental promotion's Women's Championship. She was called up to the main roster in 2006 as a babyface, aligning with Trish Stratus in her feud with Mickie James, but soon was put on the shelf with a broken jaw. She returned to action in two months, but spent another year in OVW.
In 2007, Phoenix came back to the main roster as "The Glamazon," an intimidating heel who feuded with Candice Michelle. Phoenix soon captured her first WWE Women's Championship, kicking off a WWE career that saw her form alliances with Santino Marella and Natalya, and capture the belt twice more (as well as a Divas' Championship). In 2012, she retired from WWE and the sport.
The Hall of Fame ceremony takes place on Friday, March 31, with confirmed headliner Kurt Angle. There is no word yet as to who will induct Phoenix, but smart money would be on Natalya or real-life husband Edge.
