Big E referenced his departed friend Brodie Lee on last night's episode of Raw, doing so during The New Day's WWE Championship celebration segment at the top of the show.

This happened one week after E cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to wrest the belt from Bobby Lashley's dominant clutches. In his victory promo, E thanked his friends and fans, then delivered the following line:-

"I'm grateful for all of you below the heavens - and one incredible friend above."

The Raleigh, North Carolina crowd then responded with a "Brodie" chant. Later, WWE's Twitter account highlighted the moment:-

AEW star Lee tragically passed away on 26 December 2020, having spent close to two months being treated for a lung issue at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. A universally beloved figure around the wrestling industry, he was particularly close with E, with whom he shared a WWE roster for many years.

E said the following on Brodie during last week's episode of WWE's The Bump, saying the former Luke Harper was on his mind when he became WWE Champion (h/t Wrestling Inc.):-

“He was on my mind throughout. Of course, I love him dearly and I miss him. He was one of my best friends, such an incredible human being. I still stay connected with his wife and his kids. They actually FaceTimed me yesterday. He’s someone that means so much to everyone who knew and loved him. I just want to do my part to continue to keep shouting out my boy and keep his memory alive. Someone tweeted about Brodie, and my response was, you know, ‘I just wish he was there to hug backstage and to talk to’. I know how he was, man. He’d be one of the first to come up and congratulate me and pull me aside. I know he would have been happy for me.”
