Big Title Change At WWE NXT: The Great American Bash 2021
NXT's Tag Team, Women's Tag Team, and Million Dollar Titles were all on the line last night.
Io Shirai and Zoey Stark are your new NXT Women's Tag Team Champions, having defeated The Way's Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell to take the gold at last night's Great American Bash special.
Shirai and Stark had earned this opportunity by besting Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez and Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon in a contendership match last week. They ended up profiting from the return of Tegan Nox, who made her presence felt towards the end of the match, appearing on NXT television for the first time since taking an injury-related leave of absence in September 2020.
Nox distracted LeRae and Hartwell, allowing Stark to put Indi down, pin her, and claim the gold.
The Way's Women's Tag Team Title reign ended on 63 days. They failed to make a single successful defence after taking the straps from Moon and Blackheart in May.
Stark and Shirai, meanwhile, were working only their fourth bout as a tandem last night.
The night's other title fights saw LA Knight successfully defend the Million Dollar Title against Cameron Grimes, making Grimes his butler in the process, and Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa fail at capturing MSK's NXT Tag Team Titles.
