All Elite Wrestling star Thunder Rosa is legitimately injured.

The reigning AEW Women's World Champion announced during last night's episode of Dynamite that she was hurt, rendering her unable to defend her title. As a consequence of this, AEW booked an Interim Women's World Championship match pitting Britt Baker, Toni Storm, Jamie Hayter, and Hikaru Shida against each other for the 4 September All Out 2022 pay-per-view.

Rosa's announcement created immediate speculation that the injury was a work. This is not the case.

PWInsider's Mike Johnson reports that while there is no word on the nature of the situation or how long Rosa will be out for, she is definitely injured. There is no truth to rumours that she has actually been suspended by the promotion, who had to switch All Out 2022 plans up after learning Rosa was hurt.

Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp has also confirmed the injury's legitimacy:-

AEW creating an interim women's belt follows a similar situation in the men's division, where World Champion CM Punk's injury led, eventually, to Jon Moxley capturing a temporary strap. Those belts were unified on last night's Dynamite, with Mox flattening his opposite number.
