Billy Gunn Coming To New Japan?
Former WWE star could be working World Tag League tournament.
While appearing on X-Pac's YouTube show, Billy Gunn dropped a surprising bombshell - he's currently in talks with New Japan Pro Wrestling to appear in the company's World Tag League tournament.
The World Tag League tournament (previously known as the G1 Tag League and the Super Grade Tag League) has been held annually in the fall since 1991. Like the G1 Climax and Best of the Super Juniors tournaments, it is a two-block round robin affair where the winners of each block meet in the finals. Last year's tournament had fourteen teams, with all of the company's major stars competing.
Gunn, who was fired from his position as a WWE trainer last November after failing a drug test at a powerlifting competition, said that New Japan called him about participating in the tournament and he "jumped at it." Gunn is one of the most accomplished tag-team workers in the history of WWE, having captured 11 different championships with three different partners during the course of his career.
The World Tag League tournament will run from November 18 to December 10. There is no word as to who Gunn's partner will be if he does participate.
