Billy Gunn Files 'New Age Outlaws' Trademark Application
The AEW man is aiming to secure the rights to his old tag team name...
AEW's Billy Gunn has filed a new trademark application for 'The New Age Outlaws' with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
The mark is to be used for the following purposes:-
IC 025. US 022 039. G & S: Hats; Shirts; Socks; Sweatshirts; Hooded sweatshirts
IC 041. US 100 101 107. G & S: Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestling and sports entertainment personality; Entertainment services, namely, televised appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainment personality; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network
The application was filed by Kip Sopp (Gunn's real name) on 7 January 2022, per the USPTO listing.
This comes following Brian 'Road Dogg' James' WWE departure two days prior. Gunn's fellow New Age Outlaw was released from the company after over a decade's work as a producer, with the Vince McMahon-helmed group swinging the axe on the NXT team Triple H had spent the past few years assembling.
The New Age Outlaws last teamed together at Royal Rumble 2015, where they were defeated by The Ascension. James and Gunn had worked on opposite sides of the AEW/WWE divide since Gunn was hired by the former as a coach in 2019.
