Booker T Compares "Off-Track" AEW To WCW
Is Tony Khan about to become the new Ted Turner? Booker T thinks there's a chance.
Booker T has likened AEW's current state to latter-day WCW.
The WWE Hall Of Famer told fans on his podcast that the company needs "intervention" because "AEW is off-track". Booker followed up those strong words by saying Tony Khan's league is "off-message", and said he reckons there are "so many antics going on [there] right now".
Book started off by addressing the current rumours about CM Punk-led tension backstage. He doesn't think that's something Tony can afford to let linger; if he does, then Booker believes it's only a matter of time before bigger problems surface for the All Elite boss.
Being compared to latter-day WCW is not a compliment. World Championship Wrestling was a train wreck towards the end. Realistically, AEW has some way to go before it's anywhere near as badly-run as 'Dubya-C-Dubya', but Booker T sees real issues if Khan doesn't start stamping out some fires.
He can also see grumbles backstage over the way Punk is treated.
Others on the roster might be peeved if Punk is allowed to throw his weight around unpunished, for example. That's why Book thinks AEW is in danger of becoming WCW circa 1999-2001.
