While he himself is viewed as one of the absolute greatest boxers in the history of the sport, Evander Holyfield's son appears to be eyeing a slightly different future between the ropes.

As per PWInsider, Elijah Holyfield - the son of Evander - is set to partake in the WWE tryouts that are being put on in Cleveland over SummerSlam weekend. The 26-year-old Elijah has previously played in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles and was part of practice squads for both the Carolina Panthers and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Elijah Holyfield would certainly fit in with WWE's recent approach of targeting outstanding athletes with no prior wrestling experience, plus he'd obviously bring plenty of natural hype and intrigue with him due to who his father is.

On that topic, Evander Holyfield isn't a total stranger to the wrestling ring, having had a boxing match against Matt Hardy back in 2007 on an episode of Saturday Night's Main Event. That was part of Hardy's feud against MVP, with MVP bringing in Holyfield as his replacement against V1.
