Bray Wyatt Says "Take My Name Off That Sh*t" To Roman Reigns' WWE Universal Title Run
Former Bray Wyatt snaps back at statement that he lost to Tribal Chief.
Windham "Bray Wyatt" Rotunda has been pretty quiet on social media of late, but he fired up the Twitter machine Sunday to snap back at a writer for a London-based site.
Give Me Sport writer Louis Dangoor tweeted Sunday that if Roman Reigns defeats Goldberg at Elimination Chamber this week, he'll have beaten every wrestler who has ever held the WWE Universal Championship during his current reign. The tweet noted that during this 530-plus day reign, Roman has bested Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman.
Rotunda, who hadn't tweeted anything since November 21, simply replied:
Take my name off that s**t

Wyatt was the Universal Champion heading into Payback 2020 when he defended the title against Reigns and Strowman. Roman pinned Braun to kick off his historic title run, which technically means that he never beat Wyatt directly. (Hell, we've seen plenty of wrestlers demand title rematches for that very reason, so it's valid even in-universe in WWE.) Dangoor acknowledged the technicality, but noted that "record books don't lie" and hasn't altered the tweet.
Rotunda would have just five more matches in WWE, including a much-criticized 6-minute swansong at WrestleMania 37, where he lost to Randy Orton. In July, WWE released Wyatt, citing budget cuts.
Windham hasn't resurfaced with a wrestling promotion yet. Most recently, he appeared in a photo earlier this month attending a wedding for Marvel/Disney writer Rob Fee.
It should be noted that Reigns actually lost to Rollins at Royal Rumble by DQ, which Dangoor also acknowledged (noting that Roman retained his title) and Rollins called it out himself, replying to the tweet "Fake news."
