Bret Hart Brutally Buries Goldberg... Again!
Even when praising Brock Lesnar, Bret Hart takes aim at WCW rival Goldberg...
Death, taxes, and Bret Hart verbally eviscerating Goldberg. These are life's three certainties - and 'The Hitman' is at it again.
Hart was recently conducting a virtual signing session with Signed by Superstars when the subject of WWE Champion Brock Lesnar naming Bret as a dream opponent came up. Although the 64-year-old's appraisal of the WrestleMania 38 headliner was positive, saying he had always heard Brock was "a real pro" in the ring, Hart used the opportunity to slip in a jab at Goldberg (h/t POST Wrestling):-
"I heard that I was his [Brock Lesnar] dream match. That was just a week ago I heard that. Always heard Brock was a good worker. I've never heard that [Lesnar was stiff in the ring]. Always heard just the opposite, that he looks stiff, but he's a real pro in the ring. Totally the opposite of Goldberg".
'The Hitman' burying his former WCW rostermate has been a near-constant in Hart's interviews for decades, regardless of whether or not whoever is on the other side of the microphone brings Goldberg up. His stance and opinions are informed by the wayward thrust kick from Bill that ultimately led to the end of Hart's in-ring career when the duo wrestled at Starrcade 1999. Struck down by multiple concussions leaving him with post-concussion syndrome, Bret was forced to retire soon after.
Although Hart stated in the 2005 documentary Bret "Hit Man" Hart: The Best There Is, the Best There Was, the Best There Ever Will Be that he felt regret at "someone as good-hearted as Bill Goldberg" being responsible for hurting him, he has rarely held back when criticising the former WCW Champion's in-ring skills.
Goldberg, 55, is currently a free agent following his latest WWE contract's expiration in February.
