'The Hitman' hasn't been put off by last year's assault, it seems.

It looks like Bret 'The Hitman' Hart will have the honour of inducting The British Bulldog into the WWE Hall of Fame in Tampa, Florida over WrestleMania 36 weekend.

This is according to a new report from PWInsider stating that this was the word doing the rounds backstage last night's episode of WWE Raw. The promotion is yet to officially confirm Davey Boy Smith's induction, though it feels like a dead cert after multiple reports last week.

The decision to use Bret is notable for several reasons. First and most obvious is that Smith was Hart's brother-in-law. having married 'The Hitman's' sister, Diana, in 1984, and Bret is also one of his greatest opponents, having put Davey Boy over in a memorable Intercontinental Title main event at SummerSlam 1992 in Bulldog's native England.

There's also the small matter of last year's Hall of Fame ceremony to take into account as well, with Hart heinously jumped by a random idiot while being inducted as a member of The Hart Foundation. The situation was quickly diffused and 'The Hitman' was left relatively unshaken, mounting a brief appearance at WrestleMania 35 the following evening, though it's still nice to see the situation hasn't dissuaded him here.
